I have been extremely fortunate over the last year to work with Doane House Hospice and to be part of the opening of the new 10-bed residential hospice, Margaret Bahen Hospice for York Region. To be able to support individuals at the end of life, with a focus on meeting their unique needs and improving the quality of remaining life, through holistic supports provided by the most amazing interdisciplinary team, has been a true privilege.
Everyone should have access to supportive care at the end of life. At Margaret Bahen Hospice, having access to round the clock nursing care and all of the comforts of home, helps families and friends to focus on sharing memories and living every moment together.
Only a portion of our community and residential hospice services are funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. We rely heavily on donations and volunteer support to maintain our operations. I am Hiking for Hospice in memory of all of the families that we have served and for all of the families that will need our services in the future.
Please consider joining me at the Hike for Hospice on May 6 or making a donation to my campaign. I thank you in advance for your consideration.
With my thanks,
