I feel so fortunate to be apart of Margaret Bahen's 10 bed residential hospice (MBH) in Newmarket.
From the the moment we're born, we're all headed to the same destination. Albeit, life's not about the destination, but about the journey. However, with each day that passes, we're brought one day closer. It's easy to go through life, on our journey, pretending like it will never be our turn. I think it makes it easier; to carry that magical thinking of childhood into our every day lives.
The reality is, that every one of us will require end of life care some day. And everyone deserves hospice care for their last days or weeks. Knowing that there is 24/7 nursing care and all of the comforts of home help families to focus on sharing memories and living every moment.
Hospice care is free to you and your families, but the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care does not fund all the important services and programs they offer. It's only the nursing care that is funded by the ministry and everything else comes from donations. That's why I'm Hiking for Hospice and I hope you will join me.
